Captain Shikishima is the authority here, unlike him, a mere soldier. So is there any point in doing anything about it? Mikasa has chosen her own path, and his own awaits.

Eren hates himself for once admiring this man. And yet he can't shake off the treacherous whisper in the depths of his mind: the captain has done a lot, all logical. But wrong, Ehren thinks. He is crossing the line! How can a noble commander pay special attention to a subordinate?
He knows Mikasa won't listen to him; she never has, and she won't this time. She is like a stranger to him now, but in no way a sister.
At the thought of this, something in Eren breaks, rips out, and he screams. He shuts up and screams again, covering his ears with his hands as if that would drown out his inner voice.

An alien hand clasps his mouth, and he can barely keep from sinking his teeth into the soft skin.
